Overlooking the dramatic landscape of Noordhoek, with sweeping views across Noordhoek Beach and Sun Valley, this contemporary home was designed to maximise its exceptional setting while carefully balancing privacy and protection from the harsh coastal climate.

The steep, narrow site and the area’s strong prevailing south-easterly winds presented significant design challenges, requiring a thoughtful process of refinement and reworking to fully unlock the site’s potential. In response, the outdoor entertainment, pool, and deck areas were positioned within a sheltered courtyard space enclosed by the house and a high retaining boundary wall, creating a protected outdoor environment that can be comfortably enjoyed throughout the year.

Seeking a home with a strong visual identity and memorable architectural moments, the developer client pushed for a design with genuine impact. This led to the introduction of a dramatic glass atrium positioned between the home and entertainment deck, allowing natural light to filter deep into the interior while creating a strong connection to the surrounding landscape and vegetation. The result is a home that feels both expansive and protected — carefully shaped by its views, climate, and challenging site conditions.
